Senior Regional Supervisor
Laurie serves as a Senior Regional Supervisor for Alpha Barnes. In her role, she manages, directs and implements strategies to ensure the successful achievement of operational efficiencies and profitability for clients and their assets. Laurie offers her clients expertise in a diverse collection of management activities including resident relations, vendor management, lease compliance, and contract negotiation. She directly supervises the activities of all property managers and regional office staff for a portfolio of properties targeting positive financial results. Ms. Root supervises 7 assets, totaling over 1,200 units comprised of Low Income Housing Tax (LIHTC) housing, Senior, conventional and new construction.
Laurie studied at Collin County Community College and began her career in 1986, as a leasing consultant. After earning management roles at both large and small public and private companies, Laurie accepted positions as Director of Training and Marketing for on-site teams. She stepped back into Regional Supervision in 2005 and joined Alpha Barnes 2017 as a Senior Regional Supervisor. Her experience includes all facets of the real estate management business, including the management of multi-family conventional and tax credit communities, the management of high-rise, mid-rise and new construction lease-up. She has also developed a strong expertise in managing and operating affordable housing including Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) deals.
Laurie serves on committees and boards at local and state apartment associations. She is a graduate of the Texas Apartment Association Leadership Lyceum and has been recognized by the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas with the "Legends of Education" award. She is a member of the NAA Education Institute Faculty.
Laurie is a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and a Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS).
