The Principals of AlphaBarnes Real Estate Services have announced the promotions of Cathy Johnson, CAPS, HCCP and Anna Melson, HCCP to Vice Presidents of the firm effective on Monday, April 23, 2018. In their new capacities, Cathy and Anna will be assuming direct supervisory responsibility for groupings of Senior Regional Supervisors, Regional Supervisors and Regional Managers. Through those staff and the on-site staff members working for them, they will each be responsible for 40-50 assets ABRES has under management. Cathy started her career as a Leasing Agent for Hall Management in 1987. Through acquisition of a management contract, she joined Alpha Management in 1991 as an Assistant Manager. Since that time, she has advanced through the ranks to the level of Senior Property Supervisor and now to Vice President. Cathy is known to clients and syndicators throughout Texas as a compliance specialist in the LIHTC program in terms of initial lease-ups, ongoing operations and compliance and the clean-up on properties that have not maintained high compliance standards. She also has extensive experience in resolving occupancy issues at affordable and conventional apartments. She is a Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) in 2000 National Leased Housing Association (NALP) in 1991 Certified Apartment Manager (CAM), 1995
Anna Melson started her career in property management in 1989 in Dallas with a large owner/developer of USDA Farmers Home Administration Section 515 properties located throughout Texas and New Mexico. In 1993, an acquisition of that company brought her to Alpha Management as a Regional Property Supervisor and in 2000 a merger with Barnes Real Estate Services moved her to her current position as a Senior Regional Property Supervisor for Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services and now to the Vice President position. In her 20 years of experience at A-BRES and Alpha Management, Anna’s expertise is in the operations of properties that utilize the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and its sometimes attached HOME and Bond programs. Over the years, Anna has leased up over 60 LIHTC properties. She earned her Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) designation in 2000 and has regularly participated in training and update programs offered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs as well as the Texas Apartment Association. She is also a Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS).

Cobb most recently served as chief operating officer for Capstone Real Estate Services. He has been in the property management industry since 1985.
